Professional Indemnity insurance, also known as ’Errors & Omissions’ protects you and/or your business against claims for financial loss or damage sustained by a third party as a direct result of your negligence, error omission. Professional Indemnity insurance will also provide you with additional cover for legal costs.
In the ever-increasing litigious world that we now live in, individuals and companies that provide advice and/or services for a fee are becoming more and more reluctant to continue trading without the protection that Professional Indemnity insurance cover offers. They no longer want the uncertainty of being exposed to financial losses to third parties caused by their negligence, which in extreme cases might bankrupt their business.
Directors and Officers is a form of Personal Liability insurance that provides general cover to a firm’s directors, managers and senior executives. It protects the firm from law suits and judgments brought against it. These personnel have various duties and powers within their job descriptions and contract terms. As a result they can be held responsible for a range of issues including:
Poor management decisions
Maintaining satisfactory accounts
If any director or officer is found to have inadvertently acted outside their terms of reference which gives rise to a claim, then compensation and legal fees will be covered by directors' and officers' liability insurance. Criminal activities however, are not included.
